Eligibility

Part 1 nominations will be reviewed by former Benefit Manager of the Year® and Benefit Management Honor Roll® honorees. Part 2 nominations will be scored by a panel of benefit management experts and insurance industry executives. Nominees must be full-time employees of the organization for which they manage the benefits program – brokers, consultants and other service providers for organizations are not eligible for this awards program.

Judging Criteria

Criterion 1: Innovatively and effectively applies benefit programs to solve one or more major problems for his or her organization. (For example, addressing rising health care costs, increasing wellness program participation, boosting 401(k) plan savings, etc.)

Criterion 2: Exhibits leadership in achieving change within his or her organization. (For example, communicating to upper management the need for strategic benefits programs that align with the broader goals of the organization or driving participant behavior change through benefit plan design.)

Criterion 3: Skillfully uses technology to administer benefits programs and/or identify and address major problems such as health care cost drivers. (This includes the use of Web-based tools, data warehouse, employee benefits information system or human resource information system, etc.)

Criterion 4: Establishes and/or leads an effective benefits communication strategy to effectively inform employees of benefits program changes.

Criterion 5: Develops in his or her career and promotes the advancement of the benefits profession. (May include job history, education, memberships, professional activities, speaking engagements, mentoring, teaching or other related activities.)
